The Presenters:

Steve Barkley

For the past 30 years, Steve has served as an education consultant to school districts, teacher organizations, state departments of education, and colleges and universities nationally and internationally, facilitating the changes necessary for them to reach students and successfully prepare them for the 21st century. A prolific published author, his weekly blog, Steve Barkley Ponders Out Loud, has evolved into a go-to resource for teachers and administrators all over the world.

Dana Schon

Dana is excited to be serving as the professional learning director for School Administrators of Iowa (SAI). Prior to coming to SAI, she was the executive director of elementary education for Ankeny Community Schools. She transitioned to administration while in Denison, Iowa, after a number of years teaching secondary language arts and Spanish. One of her greatest passions is learning—she holds a doctoral degree in educational leadership, a masters degree in educational administration, and a masters degree in school guidance and counseling. She is driven to support others in achieving their learning and leading goals.

Margaret Jones-Carey

Dr. Margaret Jones-Carey has been a public school educator for more than 30 years. She has held the titles of teacher, principal, coordinator of financial services, director of technology and curriculum, chief academic officer, executive director and assistant/associate superintendent. Dr. Jones-Carey is currently the Sr. Vice-President of Professional Growth at PLS 3rd Learning and an adjunct professor in the school of Education at St. Bonaventure University. Dr. Jones-Carey has presented internationally on topics such as 21st century learning, using Academic Vocabulary to improve edTPA results and is currently working on developing professional learning opportunities for educators around teacher pedagogy and global competency.
