As John Dewey stated, “We do not learn from experience. We learn from reflecting on experience.” This is as true for educators as it is for our students. I was invited to explore teacher reflection through coaching with Cory Camp on the SIBME Coach Replay Show. Listen in on our reflections which hopefully will generate some of your own.

The reflective culture definitely allow teachers to build upon what’s working and what skill/strategies might be falling short of desired professional goals. I now realize my turning in end of unit test results several times this year and receiving zero feedback is disappointing. If I had the opportunity to reflect on what’s happening in my middle school math classes. If I had feedback and any amount of coaching I’d grow and students would improve, as I want. I was blown away at the thought of teachers and students watching them selves. Teaching since 1969 I have never experienced it in four states and ten school districts. That is very much of a concern. I am not satisfied, as this year ends, knowing I have not made the desired academic and social growth sought.
