Grading on the traditional 100 point scale is mostly outdated in light of the skills and abilities we expect students to develop in school, which are also indicated in the new common core standards. The example you provided with your daughter, creativity is an attribute that is highly subjective and personal to each individual. To assign grades to students using this same 100 pt scale seems ludicrous and illogical to me. I believe we need to move toward performance based assessment that measures a student’s improvement over a specified amount of instructional time.
